Vietnam All Over (poem)

We landed in the war zone
I remember how it felt
Strange and scary and unsure
Of the hand I was dealt

I looked around at foreign
Not even the military the same
A rush of excitement surged
I'm ready to get in the game

The old guys looked at us
Smiled and welcomed us in
They were happy we were there
They were going home again

I'm there now as I recall
How I just wanted to kill
The time I had a job to do
Dictated by political will

I would never do it again
For those going now I feel bad
Military foreign did nothing for me
Except make the world more sad
