A letter from WINTERFILM

By VVAW

[Printer-Friendly Version]

It has been over 5 months since the Winter Soldier Investigation ended, but for those of us who are making a film of Winter Soldier, the event is still very much alive. We in WINTERFILM would like your help, as veterans and friends in working to create a picture of your experiences and memories of Vietnam. You can help by letting us know your opinions of the short films we have already made. You can also help by loaning us any slides, 8 mm movies rolls, or still photos you have from your time in Nam. We need pictures of the reality of Vietnam to complement the spoken testimony of the men at Winter Soldier. Many vets have seen the two short films we have already made. However, others may not know about them. We have two films: a 17 min. black & white film of excerpts from the First Marine Div. testimony and a 25 min. black & white and color film of the testimony of men from the Americal Div.. VVAW coordinators have been using these films at fund raising events and at discussion group meetings. 16 min. print copies of the two films are available for rent and/or purchase through the national and regional VVAW offices. At present WINTERFILM is working to complete a feature length film of Winter Soldier. We hope to be finished by Sept. 1st. During the summer we plan to have screenings of the work in progress to help raise money for the costs of the film and to show more and more people what happened at Detroit. We would appreciate any help or advice in both raising money and getting people to see the film. If you can think of anything, let us know. And please come visit us here in the country. The air is clean, and there is a lake and a wood full of deer. Bring sleeping gear and food. It's a trip. COME.
