Army/Navy Surplus

when I got out
it seemed that
every
long haired
hippy peace freak
wore part of a uniform

I was confused by this
having spent the last four
years inside of one
so I asked: I was told

it was in protest
that only left me more confused

a satire
I didn't see the irony

or simply
because they are so functional

but, understanding the function
of the uniform is what had me so
bewildered
