Letters to the Editor

By Ron Osgood

[Printer-Friendly Version]

I am looking for subjects to interview for My Vietnam, Your Iraq, a film documentary that will tell the stories of Vietnam veterans whose children have served or are serving in Iraq. Some of you may remember my earlier request, just over a year ago. I've finally received some funding, and I anticipate starting production this summer. My interest in telling this story is rooted in the fact that I am a Vietnam veteran whose father served in World War II. Veterans who returned from World War II were called members of the "greatest generation." Their sense of patriotism and willingness to serve in the armed forces was considerably different from that of their draft-age sons in the 1960s. Although the political climate has changed, this family relationship based on military service is once again relevant some thirty years later. I'm looking for a diverse cross-section of opinions, and I'm hopeful that I can find some women that served in either war. If you would like more information, please contact me.
