An Ode to Survival (poem)

By Knute Niehoff

[Printer-Friendly Version]

The dust settled
the blades tied down
The blood cleaned,
reality hits
Too hard to comprehend,
light it up, escape
Jimi, Cream, Janis
Loss of belief in God, never there
fade away in nods,
until reality hits again
Repeat the cycle, over and over
no end to the nightmares,
only to be kind comes back
the faith is restored,
for a moment as living in a gifted world,
No tomorrow, just now!

—Knute Niehoff
