Interference at Spearing Sites Banned

By VVAW

[Printer-Friendly Version]

Federal Judge Barbara Crabb permanently banned Dean Crist and anti-treaty rights groups from interfering with Lac du Flambeau Chippewa spearfishing on January 8th. Many VVAW members have endured racist insults and attacks while standing up with other progressive people in defense of tribal treaty rights on the boat docs of Wisconsin. We would like to believe that this long overdue ruling will end the yearly battles. However with Bush, etc. openly encouraging ignorant fools to blame someone, anyone other than the rich for the desperate conditions working people are enduring, more attempts at bullying anyone these beer sodden racists perceive as weak is possible. Further struggle is likely. Congratulations to the Lac du Flambeau Chippewa and their many supporters for winning the battle.
