Paying Your Way

By Lee Channing

[Printer-Friendly Version]

Something many of us take for granted is the maintenance of OUR organization. Since I joined the national staff, I've seen hundreds of letters requesting copies of THE VETERAN, The Agent Orange Dossier, and other self-help material—and beaucoup additional requests for all manner of things. We have provided ALL, to the best of our ability, and have, on more than one occasion, dug into scarce personal money in order to accommodate a request.

The VVAW dues structure is quite simple. So simple, in fact, that many find it easy to forget just where they stand. The $1 per month is easily lost in the overall shuffle—but that $1 equals five stamps for mailings; contact with incarcerated vets, answering questions or just keeping the organization "in touch." Phone calls and extra-heavy "bulk mailings" add to the drain. I'm simply asking for your help in recognizing that reagonomics affects us all!

Please check your own dues status to see if you're current. Please, also, check to see if you're a subscriber to THE VETERAN (it doesn't come automatically with membership). Basically, let's all pull together to maintain solidarity in the continuing struggle. Whatever we do, let's do it together. It is fundamental to the organization that WE are YOU is US! We depend on OUR support!

VVAW is growing very rapidly. The efforts of many brothers and sisters are seeing to the maintenance of this organization as THE FIRST and FOREMOST "Fighting Veterans Group." Please, Join In and do your part. We're ALL in this together!

Thank you,
Lee Channing, for the VVAW National Staff
