Telegram from VVAW: Welcome Vietnam to U.N.

Vietnam Veterans Against the War hails the entrance of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam into the United Nations. After years of struggle; fighting the forces of colonialism and imperialism, Vietnam has now formally joined the world community. That Vietnam enters the United Nations is a great victory for the Vietnamese people and for the people of the world. It is a stunning defeat for the US ruling class.

For VVAW, we have a special reason to celebrate this victory. For it was in Vietnam that we learned the true nature of US imperialism. The Vietnamese peoples' fight for freedom and their great victory gave us the inspiration to fight for our own freedom.

VVAW sends it congratulations to Vietnam and demands that the United States pay war reparations as it agreed to do.
