<< 24. A Veteran's Manifesto (poem)26. Los Angeles Agent Orange Demo >>

A Crescent Among Crosses at a Beach Memorial (poem)

By Horace Coleman

[Printer-Friendly Version]

Who was he?
Who is she?
A relative / wife / lover / friend / neighbor?
A curious stranger?
From the same "tribe?"
She crouches before the man
laminated in Marine dress blue.
A non uniform Middle Eastern face
in this temporary place where
indifferent gawkers' and talkers'
whims and commands rearrange shifting sands.
